Hello all and thanks for the wealth of information! Next week I move from Florida to Duluth, Ga, to assume responsibility of a family estate of 150 years and down to 3.5 acres. The property is part grass and part wooded. There are also large areas of gravel below trees where grass will not grow.
After much research and reading this board, I purchased a new BX 2230 with a 60" mmm from Lashley Tractor sales. I was impressed with their professionalism.
What would be the best utility trailer (dump function) to pull behind the BX and what implement would be best for spreading gravel over large areas? Is it necessary to purchase Kubota implements or are there other brands that are compatible and of equal quality? 2K for a leaf catcher seems excessive. Is there a discount provider of implements for this machine?
I am truly impressed with the Kubota and look forward to many years of service.

Art, you seem to be the resident Kubota expert and I appreciate any advice.
With regard to the trailer I was referring to a small garden type trailer suitable for the BX and used for moving less than say 400 lbs. I see cheap looking steel types at Home Depot. I was in hopes of finding a good quality garden trailer that would not rust or fall apart after only a year or 2.
I am also curious as to whether other brands of implements are compatible with the 2230. ....

As far as spreading gravel, the la211 loader is probably your best bet. I've had several large and small tractors over the years and used my small home depot traier every weekend. Now that I have my bx2200 (pretty much the same thing as the bx2230 minus the cruise control) I can't recall the last time I used a trailer in the yard or woods. The loadr carries it all from fire wood right to the back door at hip level to unload to a coating of crushed stone every year in the driveway to mulch and chips. My trailer was never rusty but now is that it just sits.
If you are looking for rear storage, there are some companies that make a 3 pount utility dump box. They are about the same size as a small trailer but they attach to the 3 point hitch. These are pretty good too but once again the loader takes it's place in my book.
As far as rear implements, many companies offer them and they are all interchangable. Just remember the bx is a sub compact to lean towards the smaller box blades and rear attachments as to not over do it. ....

Country Manufacturing has two models of hydraulic dump trailers, a 1 ton and a 2 ton. I have the 2 ton that I pull behind my 7800 for spreading fill dirt and it works great. The dump works great off the rear remotes. Well built, all steel contruction. I have loaded the thing up with about a yard and a half of fill and it handles fine. The 1 ton has a hydraulic dump option also, but will only dump 1000 lbs.
NorthernTool has several dump trialers in their ATV accessory section you might find interesting. I believe some have Poly boxes.
I load the trailer with the loader, haul and dump. I have moved 50 yards to the back of the property in about 4 hours with the 2 ton dump trailer. Really like the way it works. ....

As far as other implements that are compatable with the Bx series, KingKutter offers a full line of their "XB" sized implements that are sized for the sub-compacts. They are available form TSC. Not the highest of quality, but solid implements that do what they are suppose to, at a very reasonable price. ....

There is also another alterative. I bought a trailer from a company from Canada called Pronovost. This trailer is rated for 3,000lbs and has 2 options for dumping, a battery powered hydrauilc lift or a manual pump. I have a B7510HSD and LOVE this trailer, I use it for everything. I have also loaned it to my father that has a BX2200 and it pulled it fine. BUT, these are a little pricey....about $2,000. I feel it's well worth it. Check the like below. Look at the P-503. ....

Last summer I picked up a 15 cu ft trailer with a Rubbermaid dump box. It's a manual dump, but the trailer hauled a lot of stuff. That was before I bought the new CUT. Since then, it hasn't gotten that much use. The loader is just too handy and easier to dump with since you don't have to leave the seat.
I'd seriously consider what you would be using it for. If you are hauling leaves, then get a trailer. Else, you may want to stick with the loader. It's just so handy. ....

The trailer saved an enormous amount of time and wear and tear on the tractor. I was traveling about 600 feet with the tracor, so the time it was taking to carry the fill a bucket at a time was killing us.
I had help from the wife, so yes, we would unhook the trailer, fill it with about two yards of fill, and hook it back up to the tractor. Haul it where we needed it and dump. The only tough part was hooking and un-hooking the hydraulic lines for the dump. Each load in the trailer was about 6 or 7 buckets. Doesn't take long to start saving some serious time and wear on the tractor.
We really like the set-up, and have a couple hundred more yards we will do with it in the spring. With someone there to tend the trailer, it moves fast. She is willing to stay out there and help so I won't bug her that we need two tractors. ....
